| Riverside Skate Park / Mich-E-Kewis Mini-Skate Park | |||
| Skateboarders and rollerbladers can try their skills at these free parks. Located on Ninth Ave. east of the bridge, Riverside Skate Park features 15,000 square feet of surface with 14 ramps and elements, including a halfpipe. A smaller version of Riverside, Mich-E-Kewis Mini Skate Park is designed for the beginning skater with ramps 3-4 feet high. | Approximately 13 miles long, the path travels through several of Alpena's scenic city parks and beaches along the Thunder Bay River and Lake Huron. | The Alpena BMX Association sponsors the Alpena BMX race track located at Optimist Acres, 8 miles west of Wal-Mart on M-32 at Herron Road. The National Bicycle League (NBL) sanctioned races begin late spring and are held on Sundays until late fall. | Home of the Alpena Ice Diggers! This new ice arena offers open skating, drop-in hockey, drop-in figure skating, recreational hockey leagues for men and women, concession stand, skate rental, skate sharpening and skate repair. There is also a rubberized walking track that is available during all hours the arena is open except during special events where a fee is charged. The arena is the site of special events like wrestling matches and concerts. | |||

| Depart from Alpena and enjoy miles of scenic trails in northeast Michigan. Park, stay and ride from Alpena Best Western (1-800-528-1234) or Alpena Days Inn (1-800-582-9050). Park behind Stanson Floor Covering and Furniture on M-32. Enter the trail head between Stanson's and Best Western or use the DNR parking lot on Indian Reserve Road 6 miles west of Alpena on M-32. In addition to the Devils Lake and Norway Ride trail systems in Alpena County, you can continue on to the Elk Country Trail System in Montmorency County and ride all the way to Mackinaw on marked, groomed trails. | |||
